My Contibution In Open Source

Hey there I ‘m Chamod perera from Sri Lanka.I’m a pacticipant of this years’ Google code-in.So today I’m going to introduce Google code-in and share my experience in open source.

What is google code-in

Google Code-in (GCI) is an annual programming competition hosted by Google LLC that allows pre-university students to complete tasks specified by various, partnering open source organizations. The contest was originally the Google Highly Open Participation Contest, but in 2010, the format was modified into its current state. Students that complete tasks win certificates and T-shirts. Each organization also selects two grand prize award winners who will earn a trip to Google’s Headquarters located in Mountain View, California.-wikipedia

Working with open source

What is open source

Open-source software is a type of computer software in which source code is released under a license in which the copyright holder grants users the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. Open-source software may be developed in a collaborative public manner. Wikipedia

My experience

Working with GCI is a great experience. You can learn lot by just participating. There are about 27 open source oraganizations in GCI.From all that fossasia is a remarkable one.I have done most tasks in fossasia

There are outstanding projects in fossaisa.you and learn about them by visiting- https://labs.fossasia.org/

Among all those projects I am interested in susi.ai most.

Susi.ai

Susi.ai is a simple artificial intelligence robor application. The most importanat part is that we can editit by ourselves. But you don’t need to know programming at all.You can add your skills simply by understanding the followning steps- https://github.com/fossasia/susi.ai/blob/master/docs/Skill_Tutorial.md
